HP Announces Windows 8 PCs

Computer maker HP has announced several PCs running Windows 8. These computers are sturdy ultrabooks and hybrids, sporting touch screens and plenty of power and style.

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart

First up is the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart, a very capable ultrabook with lots of style and luxury to match the power.Key features include edge-to edge Gorilla Glass  with an IPS display, and a Thunderbolt port.

HP ENVY TouchSmart

Next, was the HP ENVY TouchSmart Ultrabook, packing Beats Audio and running Windows 8, this ultrabook is made from the ground up as a multimedia star.

HP Envy x2

The ENVY x2 is just what it sounds. A device times two. This hybrid doubles both as a ultrabook and tablet. Its running Windows 8.

Why? Great screen LCD technology ( Toshiba TrueBrite )   ; in general, solid construction but cheaper models are junky. Plenty of bundled software to protect and secure a new PC.

Why? Great screen LCD technology ( high screen resolution and good brightness ); expensive models enjoy better durability and hardware finish

Why? Very durable finish but not very stylish or thin. Good customization available. Usually comes with Blu-Ray built-in; usually has inferior AMD processors

Why? Stylish and very customizable and colorful. Not very good design and construction. Decent hardware. Good service and customer support.

Why? Good design but flawed construction. Stylish and often light models with inferior construction.

Why? Floppy design and construction. Not a very reliable computer, with little to no reputation.

Microsoft to acquire BlackBerry

A Bloomberg rumor has it that company Research in Motion( famous for their BlackBerry’s, ) may be staring Microsoft’s acquisition offices. Needless to say, the cell-phone makers have taken a hard fall- the former 83 billion dollar company has lost its golden years when it used to be at the top of the smart phone market. It is only apparent that the Blackberry maker is attracting companies- but not in a good way. Bloomberg Sources speculate that Microsoft or even Dell may be eyeing the company for a potential acquisition.

If you ask many analysts, Dell is said to be the best fit over Microsoft. This is arguable and debatable but nonetheless, RIM will be bought by a software giant or a manufacturing giant. Still, other analysts believe Microsoft is most likely to execute the acquisition- the Software Giant is actively involved in the smart phone league, though the stats don’t give merit to Redmond’s work.A RIM acquisition would be ideal for Microsoft Windows Phone 7 strategy as it involves several important Blackberry software/ hardware assets such as BlackBerry Messaging, BlackBerry AppWorld, and the like.

Bottom line: There is no question about the immediate result a RIM acquisition would make on Microsoft ‘s Mobile platform- Windows Phone 7 not only would benefit, but also eliminate it’s former competitor- thus coming closer to its rivals on the tip of the smart phone echelon.
