Microsoft Fixes three Windows 8 Bugs via Windows Update

The Windows-maker is hardly standing still. After a successful release of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Microsoft is taking out the tools and inspecting the beta for any bugs or malfunctions.

As part of their global patch fixes every second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft has released 3 important updates for the Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

The first update is Update for Windows 8 Consumer Preview (KB2680330). This update will fix the telemetry data within Windows 8, ensuring that accurate performance tracking will occur within the Windows Store.

The second update is Update for Windows 8 Consumer Preview (KB2683430). This update fixes the bug that crashes the Windows Shell, enabling you to launch an app from the App Tile in the Start Screen. In addition, the bug fix, will handle app suspension and previously launched apps with better consistency, allowing you to launch apps easily.

The third and final update is a fix to the much-improved .NET Framework 4.5 ( which has yet to be released officially). The update will correct and prevent a situation where certain apps fail to start after having installed the Consumer Preview for several days.

The beauty of this is the fact that Redmond was able to deliver the updates via Windows Update, a seamless and efficient process that only makes the Consumer Preview more robust.

Windows 8: Supports DVD Ripping and Mounting

Update: Windows 8 is now confirmed to support ISO Ripping and Mounting; However it does not support DVD playback

Windows President Steven Sinofsky has opened his mouth- as most of you already know, a gush of information has poured out about Windows 8.

Mounting a new ISOYet this one piece of info will delight movie lovers. Microsoft will now enable Windows 8 to mount and play ripped DVD ISO images…simply copy the ripped ISO image and paste it to the desktop or any other folder.

Then double-click the file and Windows 8 immediately handles the file as a normal DVD, opening its contents without a zilch of a problem.

Ejecting the VHD

Windows 8 support for DVD ripping and mounting makes plenty of sense.  A Windows 8 Tablet will function as if it had a CD drive, using the mounting capabilities Microsoft is introducing. Even Virtual Hard Disks can be used to maximize storage space on a Windows 8 tablet or other form factor. Undoubtedly this is gem that Windows should be now proud to have.

5 Free Programs your PC can’t live without

These free tools are ready to fix and clean your PC when you need them most! All are free and extremely reliable.

1. CCleaner- the famous cleaning utility, originally called CrapCleaner( hence they “cleaned” the name),  is the best computer cleaner- no exceptions! As seen below, CCleaner has a general purpose cleaner ( deleting Internet files, cookies, and urls), Registry Cleaner ( cleans Active X registries, Obsolete Software Registry…), Start-Up programs can be disabled, Program Uninstaller, and General as well as Advanced Options. Highly recommend it. ! Download Now!

2. Defraggler- From the makers of CCleaner comes the best defragmentation software ever!( even better than Microsoft Disk Defragmenter) Up at the top, the software graphically shows you what type of files are taking space in your drives. To begin, simply Analyze and Quick Defrag( for a better defragmentation of your hard drive, run the Defrag only). After several minutes, your hard drive should occupy less space and your PC should perform faster than ever.

3.  Microsoft Security Essentials- My security tool of choice, Microsoft Security Essentials has blazing speed, quick start-up, a clean interface, but does not neglect the security department. Essentials updates automatically within Windows Update, and is excels at finding and pausing malware. Other features include Real-Time Protection, comprehensive History, along with Quarantined Items, Scheduled Scans, Exclude Files, Advanced Settings, and CPU usage limit that limits the CPU power that goes into Essentials, making it work faster and more efficient. Highly recommend it! Better than McAffee, Norton and others! Download Now for Free for Windows PC

4.  Recuva- Recuva is kind of like Recycle Bin done right. Recuva can recover almost any file ( video, picture, doc) that went by your computer. The software has the same clean design of CCleaner, scans relatively quickly, and works well. It may just solve your problems when you need that picture you deleted six days ago. It does job well and deserves credit.

5. Microsoft Fix It Center- While still in Beta, Fix It Center has proven more than capable at troubleshooting different Windows errors or malfunctions.
