History:

Microsoft entered search with MSN Search. The emphasis of Windows Live product branding gave way to Windows Live Search, a proprietary search engine with limited indexing. In 2008, Microsoft launched Bing, revamped its search indexing to compete with Google, and streamlined its search structure to deliver more accurate searches.

what WEB technologies does it Use?

Bing uses the following code and web technologies:

Caching: Bing stores temporary files in the folder Temporary Internet Files. Caching is stored at the following directory: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Cookies- Bing customizes user profiles as Cookies which it then saves to the user’s hard drive. These cookies simply remember “experience” scenarios and do not record any personal data.

Algorithms- Proprietary algorithms developed by Microsoft to enhance and narrow searches

HTML5- this include the new HTML5 video tag to render video images of the day

CSS3 – Bing supports the latest standard of CSS ( Cascading Style Sheet)

Bing, yes, but who on earth is Baidu!!!

We all know about Bing, Microsoft’s premier search Engine, and the current rival of Google Search. But who on earth thinks is Baidu- to put it simply, Baidu is or is one of China’s premier Search engines. Now the folks at Redmond (Microsoft) are teaming up with their Chinese counterparts, in a rather strong cooperation.

Bottom line: Expect Bing market share to escalate internationally as well as in the U.S. Microsoft had previously had Bing team up with Yahoo, so hypothetically, Yahoo should be positively influenced.

Lately, much has been going on around over the influence and sheer market overtake that Bing has had on both Google and Yahoo( even though Yahoo is powered by Bing). Google’s share has dropped 3% while Bing had an increment of 51% from 12 months ago- not bad for a scrapped up project, with a quirky name, and a short history.Bing continues to improve, innovate, and create- Google’s last major change however was the annoying Instant Search feature that freezes the browser and your computer. Just by mere appearance, Bing is simply better than Google.

Any dummy can tell you that he rather spend his search time on a screen  with F/A 18 Blue Angel Hornets than with a dull white background with adds all over the place!!!( such as “Install Google Chrome”, “Make this Your Homepage” and “I’m feeling Lucky”

Technically speaking Bing has more advanced features such as an Organization Pane that lets you see your results more efficiently and accurate. For those not understanding let me give you an example.- Search on Bing the term “Casablanca”in Images and then the same on Google Images. This is what you get: Compare and see the difference.

On the top, Bing classifies the term into the Casablanca, Casablanca Movie, Morocco Casablanca, Casablanca Flowers, and Casablanca Wedding Dresses into beautifully colored tabs that further narrow your search

On Google, Casablanca Morocco, Casablanca Movie , Casablanca Map, Casablanca Poster…, appear as incongruous Related searches with stupid-looking blue hyperlinks!!!

Obviously Bing is more pleasing than Google!
