In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Microsoft leaked information it had been keeping hush-hush. The Software giant informed the SEC it plans to launch the Microsoft Surface tablet on October 26, 2012, the same day it will also launch Windows 8.
“The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012,” Microsoft says in its 10-K filing with the SEC. “At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices.”

“The Windows operating system faces competition from various commercial software products and from alternative platforms and devices, mainly from Apple and Google. We believe Windows competes effectively by giving customers choice, value, flexibility, security, an easy-to-use interface, compatibility with a broad range of hardware and software applications, including those that enable productivity, and the largest support network for any operating system”
The Surface is a Microsoft-made web/productivity tablet, sporting a 10.6 inch display, USB 2.0, Micro-HD out and coming in an RT model and a PRO model.
